Boxing day

Tsunami hit South Asia a year ago, left more than a quarter million people dead or missing. Memorial services were held in half a dozen affected countries where the tragic catastrophe's hit today. A solemn and painful memory. I pray for those who survived and the faithful departed.
In a week, a new year will begin, new hopes with new inspirations. What have we achieved thus far? A better life? A humbler person? Christmas came and went. I was born a Christian and I am ashamed of how my Christmas went. I skipped mass. It was almost another ordinary day.
Here I am back at work, after a week's holiday in Bangkok and Pattaya.

The Broker - John Grisham

I've finally finished reading the book. It is really interesting to my liking. I've practically read all of John Grisham's novels. Since I was already on leave yesterday and had nothing else better to do, I read the book and finished it today. The president granted Joel Backman a last minute pardon before he leave office. Joel Backman was sent to prison as he had information of a highly sensitive secret of a very sophisticated satellite surveillance system. The CIA was behind this as they wanted to see who will get Backman first. The Chinese, Israelis, Russians and Saudis were all keeping tabs on him. Backman was smuggled to Italy. In Italy, the stories of how the avoiding of the bloodhounds and his survival was perfectly narrated. Read this book, once you're on it, you won't want to put it down. It is so interesting that you want to keep the pages turning.

Countdown

Two more working days and I am gone. I'm logging in 9 - 8 for OT. I'll be doing that for the next 2 days as well. That means I will have 6 extra hours this week. Can cover petrol. I'll be going back to Taiping on Thursday night. I'll sleep on Friday and maybe run some errands. I need to close my SBB account. Had procrastinated for 2 years. I think I have like abit over RM 30 there. If they had deducted some money because of the chip ATM card annual fee, then I would have less. I need to look for my dad as well as he went to collect my new mykad. Right now I am moving about without my IC.
Just had my dinner. It's free. Those who logged out at 6 had to attend a training. They brought dinner back for us. Fried maggi mee and fried chicken. Nothing much, but it was delicious. All 6 of us who are still logged in were dead hungry. Calls sucked and we are all so demotivated. 20 minutes and I am out of here. Don't know what I am going to do after work, but anything would be better than office now. Boss invited me for movie, but timing is not right. Harry Potter is at 6pm, Narnia is at 8.30pm. I won't be able to make it from Bayan Lepas to Gurney Plaza in 10 minutes. Log out at 8, pack my stuff and walk to the carpark, 15 minutes, drive 10 minutes? and find carpark in Gurney and run to the cinema 5 minutes? I'm not Superman. I think I better skip. I'll go home and read The Broker instead. Boss is coming back to work tomorrow afternoon. Sigh...
Oh, I am so dreaming of my holidays! One whole week with no work. I'm not going to give a damn about work. I've given up on it already.

Blogging

Whoa! I haven't been blogging for more than a week. Haven't got much to say as I have been working my ass off. Really, what have I been doing? OT! Time seems to fly so fast. Basically I spend 12 hours a day in office. Workaholic? Nah, just need to get a little bit more extra money to cover my expanses. I've been spending quite a bit. Swipe here a little, swipe there a little. Oh ya, and I am going to Bangkok this Sunday with Sunshine. Thank God he offered to foot the bill. Not forgetting my Omega. I've got til January 15 to pay up.
I am excited now as starting this Friday, I'm officially on leave for a whole week. Will be back after Christmas. Eventhough it's not Korea, I'm still going somewhere out of Malaysia. I'm taking an aeroplane! Besides this, there is really nothing else to look forward to. Life is just so unfair and it is definitely not a bed of roses.
Something new, company has given me a Latitude D400 to use. They took away my PC and now I am fully on the notebook. I am a mobile worker. If anything happens here, there is a backup plan to move me to another site. 10 of us in the team got the notebook. It is light, it is convenient. Only thing is that the screen is 12". I can also check my mails from home. So if I am on leave for a week, I'll be able to clear my mails from home. Or else, I will need to spend the first three hours clearing my mails when I come back.
Got to get back to work. Logging in til 8 tonight.

Working late

Second day in a row I'm working 9 - 8. I've figured that business is really bad and commission is not going to be that lucrative anymore. So, I'm making it up with OT. I even volunteered to work this Saturday. When was the last time I worked on a Saturday? I can't even remember. As far as I can remember, Saturday is my sleeping day.
The SITEX recently was pretty bad. I guess people had had enough of computers. They are just not buying anymore. Everyone was so excited for the fair to get more business. Everyone ended up disappointed. On Thursday and Friday, practically the whole booth was empty. We went roaming to other booths as well. (Yea, we were that free.) It was worst! You can see the exhibitors themselves are talking to each other or maybe eating in their booths. It was that bad! Tomorrow there's going to be PIKOM. Everyone is expecting it to be bad as well. I'm not attending it.
I met up with Bryan on Sunday. Ah, he is so cute. So lovable! When he walked into Prego and I called him, he was so excited and ran towards me. Bryan is turning 2 coming Tuesday. I need to get him a birthday present. He likes the Nike shoes I bought him last year. What should I get for him this year? I'm spoiling him or pampering him? Say what you want, he's my one and only nephew now. Maybe I'll get him a gold chain with a cross. He is too young for anything else.
