Think, retards!

I happened to flip the channel to a documentary show last night about Homo sapiens. It was about how people traveled over time million years ago. It actually got me thinking how much people have evolved till now.

The vast discovery of earth was contributed to the adventurous instincts of the early people. Imagine, they had no super machines whatsoever, but they managed to cross continents with just a mere bamboo raft! They survived the rough seas and the horrendous weather. Without any geographical map, how would they have guessed how long the journey is going to be and how much food to pack? Discovering new found land, to stay alive, they had to hunt for food and built shelters.

Look at us now. We seem to take things for granted. So much so that a majority of humans this age has lost the ability to think. Are they just lazy to take the initiative to think? Or maybe they are just born retards?

Angels and Demons - Dan Brown

Just finished reading this book. It is by far better than Da Vinci Code a hundred times. The first few chapters of Da Vinci was torturous, extremely boring, that you do not wish to continue reading the book anymore. From the very first page of this Angels and Demons, you keep wanting to read the next page to know what happened after. It is full of suspense, you would never have guessed what entails. The plot is just perfect. I'm not going to spoil it for you here. Go buy the book and read it for yourself!

A Prayer
Dear Lord,
I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God. And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example – to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that don't believe. But I thank you that I believe. I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly. This is my prayer. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Resolution for 2006

It's already the fourth day of a brand new year 2006. I have yet to make a list of my new year resolution. Procrastination.
I have given some thoughts about it. Here, I will list what I wish to accomplish within this year, or should I say, my aims for the year.
  1. To be a better person. I know I have been horrid sometimes. I must also admit that I have been gossiping some not very nice things about people. I will abstain myself from this. I also need to see things from a positive view, many times my thoughts are negative. I need to learn to be a little bit more tolerant and not so calculative. I need to grow. Take life easier.
  2. Yearly resolution, lose weight. Throughout of last year, I've gained 5 kg. I need to lose them. Maybe I will join Clark Hatch with Lisa. There's a big event end of this year. We need to lose those extra pounds.
  3. Save more money. Hopefully I will be able to get my own house in another 2 years time, that would be year 2008. If I make it earlier than that, then I will get a car as well.
As of now, these are the things that I can think of.

The lousiest blogger

I declare myself as the lousiest blogger. I lacked the inspiration and passion to blog. I have a number of things to blog about, but am too lazy to. Like my trip to Bangkok and Pattaya, my Christmas, then last weekend New Year 2006. There are so many things to write, but lazy me got the better of me.
So here I am today, taking the initiative to update my blog.
I am going to blog about my New Year 2006.
It was already 11.30pm on New Year's eve. Guess what? Sunshine was busy washing the cars. I was so so pissed. So, I ended up reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. The book is very exciting! When I looked up and see the clock at 11.30pm, I stromed out of the room and asked Sunshine if we are going to do anything at all. Wah, I wanted to slap his face man! I told him lets go out, let's take a drive to see if there is anything happening in Taiping. He said ok and went to have shower. We drove to Taiping Lake Gardens. Right on the dot, we reached at midnight and there was fireworks. We saw from far as there was a bad jam. Unfortunately, I think the fireworks must have expired. There were more smoke than colourful sparks. Or maybe the weather, cause it rained heavily earlier in the day. Whatever it was, the fireworks was not that beautiful. After that, Sunshine was hungry, so we ended up in a restaurant. Sunshine was obsessed with this oyster mee. I've heard him saying that he wanted to eat the oyster mee for a long time. Ok-la, I obliged. Next we headed home, and I slept.
New Year's day, did nothing in particular and didn't have any plans as well. Woke up late, around 11. Sunshine was already up and was cleaning the car again. The hell man! He and the cars tak habis habis. I always wake up and see him cleaning the car. I've questioned him many times about this. He said that he sees me sleeping so nicely, so he didn't want to wake me up. Argh! I wanted to slap his face again. It is not very nice to wake up to see the bed empty the other side. But he just seems to love the cars more. Makes me think if there is anything wrong with me. I dragged myself out of bed. Had shower, then asked Sunshine to have breakfast. We went to the stall below the big tree, our usual hang out place. Some trash talk with some friends there. We went home after breakfast. Sunshine asked if I would like to go to Penang. I didn't really want to, but what else is there to do. He wanted to have a nap first. That was already 2.30pm. I asked him what time does he want to go. He said that he needed a nap. Fine, nap we did. He woke me up at 4.30pm. Had lunch at home, his brother made tomyam. Then we headed to Penang. We reached around 6.30pm. Went to his sister's place. He wanted to see the papers as he can't remember which supermarket is having a sale for Milo. He is number 1 fan of Milo. Giant was selling 1.7kg Milo in tin for RM 17.38. Everyone was rushing for it. Giant was also selling Pringles for 8 cents. Yea, I repeat 8 cents! There were so many people, all for the sale. My head was spinning and I was hungry. Next we went to Sunshine Bayan Baru. There were so many people there too. Where did all these people came from? We went for dinner in Bayan Bay. Then sent Sunshine's sister home and went back to my place. As usual, Sunshine hogged the bathroom. He was cleaning it. Not to say that my toilet is dirty or what, he just likes cleaning it. I gave up already, let him clean all he wants.
The next day, which was yesterday, woke up around 10am. Our itenery was Gurney. We drove down town. Looked for a place for breakfast. We ended up in this coffee shop in front of Komtar, Kek Seng. My dad used to take me there when he came to visit me when I was studying in KDU. After breakfast, we went to Gurney. It was jammed packed. Took us half an hour to look for a parking as the parking in Gurney was full already. I bought Mickey Mouse bedsheet for myself. I don't know why I chose Mickey. Prices of bedsheets are very costly. RM 94.50 for a single fitted sheet with 1 pillow case and 1 bolster case. Nevermind the price, if I could afford an Omega in 15 minutes, what is RM 100? So I bought it. We walked around, wanted to buy some CNY clothes, there were too many people, I felt sick and was not in the mood anymore. We decided to go back. Sunshine wanted to go to Lorong Selamat for char koay teow. We passed there and saw the que, I told him lets go somewhere else. I will not wait for an over-priced char koay teow. Don't know what so good about it. We ended up at Swatow Lane. I used to go there when I was studying in KDU last time. I had the Tee Nya Kuih. It had been ages since I had that. It started to rain heavily. The water began to rise at the area. I guess all the drain has been clogged. It only started to pour for less than half an hour and the water was already rising. Imagine if it rained the whole day, you can only see the tip of Komtar when you try to locate Penang island then. We headed back to Taiping.
And here I am back to work today.
Happy New Year 2006!!!

Boxing day

Tsunami hit South Asia a year ago, left more than a quarter million people dead or missing. Memorial services were held in half a dozen affected countries where the tragic catastrophe's hit today. A solemn and painful memory. I pray for those who survived and the faithful departed.
In a week, a new year will begin, new hopes with new inspirations. What have we achieved thus far? A better life? A humbler person? Christmas came and went. I was born a Christian and I am ashamed of how my Christmas went. I skipped mass. It was almost another ordinary day.
Here I am back at work, after a week's holiday in Bangkok and Pattaya.

The Broker - John Grisham

I've finally finished reading the book. It is really interesting to my liking. I've practically read all of John Grisham's novels. Since I was already on leave yesterday and had nothing else better to do, I read the book and finished it today. The president granted Joel Backman a last minute pardon before he leave office. Joel Backman was sent to prison as he had information of a highly sensitive secret of a very sophisticated satellite surveillance system. The CIA was behind this as they wanted to see who will get Backman first. The Chinese, Israelis, Russians and Saudis were all keeping tabs on him. Backman was smuggled to Italy. In Italy, the stories of how the avoiding of the bloodhounds and his survival was perfectly narrated. Read this book, once you're on it, you won't want to put it down. It is so interesting that you want to keep the pages turning.

Countdown

Two more working days and I am gone. I'm logging in 9 - 8 for OT. I'll be doing that for the next 2 days as well. That means I will have 6 extra hours this week. Can cover petrol. I'll be going back to Taiping on Thursday night. I'll sleep on Friday and maybe run some errands. I need to close my SBB account. Had procrastinated for 2 years. I think I have like abit over RM 30 there. If they had deducted some money because of the chip ATM card annual fee, then I would have less. I need to look for my dad as well as he went to collect my new mykad. Right now I am moving about without my IC.
Just had my dinner. It's free. Those who logged out at 6 had to attend a training. They brought dinner back for us. Fried maggi mee and fried chicken. Nothing much, but it was delicious. All 6 of us who are still logged in were dead hungry. Calls sucked and we are all so demotivated. 20 minutes and I am out of here. Don't know what I am going to do after work, but anything would be better than office now. Boss invited me for movie, but timing is not right. Harry Potter is at 6pm, Narnia is at 8.30pm. I won't be able to make it from Bayan Lepas to Gurney Plaza in 10 minutes. Log out at 8, pack my stuff and walk to the carpark, 15 minutes, drive 10 minutes? and find carpark in Gurney and run to the cinema 5 minutes? I'm not Superman. I think I better skip. I'll go home and read The Broker instead. Boss is coming back to work tomorrow afternoon. Sigh...
Oh, I am so dreaming of my holidays! One whole week with no work. I'm not going to give a damn about work. I've given up on it already.

Blogging

Whoa! I haven't been blogging for more than a week. Haven't got much to say as I have been working my ass off. Really, what have I been doing? OT! Time seems to fly so fast. Basically I spend 12 hours a day in office. Workaholic? Nah, just need to get a little bit more extra money to cover my expanses. I've been spending quite a bit. Swipe here a little, swipe there a little. Oh ya, and I am going to Bangkok this Sunday with Sunshine. Thank God he offered to foot the bill. Not forgetting my Omega. I've got til January 15 to pay up.
I am excited now as starting this Friday, I'm officially on leave for a whole week. Will be back after Christmas. Eventhough it's not Korea, I'm still going somewhere out of Malaysia. I'm taking an aeroplane! Besides this, there is really nothing else to look forward to. Life is just so unfair and it is definitely not a bed of roses.
Something new, company has given me a Latitude D400 to use. They took away my PC and now I am fully on the notebook. I am a mobile worker. If anything happens here, there is a backup plan to move me to another site. 10 of us in the team got the notebook. It is light, it is convenient. Only thing is that the screen is 12". I can also check my mails from home. So if I am on leave for a week, I'll be able to clear my mails from home. Or else, I will need to spend the first three hours clearing my mails when I come back.
Got to get back to work. Logging in til 8 tonight.

Working late

Second day in a row I'm working 9 - 8. I've figured that business is really bad and commission is not going to be that lucrative anymore. So, I'm making it up with OT. I even volunteered to work this Saturday. When was the last time I worked on a Saturday? I can't even remember. As far as I can remember, Saturday is my sleeping day.
The SITEX recently was pretty bad. I guess people had had enough of computers. They are just not buying anymore. Everyone was so excited for the fair to get more business. Everyone ended up disappointed. On Thursday and Friday, practically the whole booth was empty. We went roaming to other booths as well. (Yea, we were that free.) It was worst! You can see the exhibitors themselves are talking to each other or maybe eating in their booths. It was that bad! Tomorrow there's going to be PIKOM. Everyone is expecting it to be bad as well. I'm not attending it.
I met up with Bryan on Sunday. Ah, he is so cute. So lovable! When he walked into Prego and I called him, he was so excited and ran towards me. Bryan is turning 2 coming Tuesday. I need to get him a birthday present. He likes the Nike shoes I bought him last year. What should I get for him this year? I'm spoiling him or pampering him? Say what you want, he's my one and only nephew now. Maybe I'll get him a gold chain with a cross. He is too young for anything else.
